Sharjah’s New and Improved Platinum Steriline Racing Starting Gate

In a significant stride towards enhancing equine safety and race-day efficiency, Steriline Racing’s seasoned travel technician, Ben Burford, recently completed the installation of a Platinum 16-stall Steriline Racing starting gate at the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club in the UAE, marking his second trip to the Middle East this year. This long-standing relationship, in place since the club’s opening in 1982 stands as a significant honour for Steriline, as the exclusive supplier from day one.

During the installation process, Ben Burford had the opportunity to meet with Sidharth Mehta, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, and Mounir Sankary, Deputy Consul General and Commissioner from Austrade. This meeting highlighted the growing international collaboration and strong relationships that supports Steriline’s presence in the region. Mr. Mehta and Mr. Sankary were able to see first-hand the innovations, safety features and high standards that Steriline brings to the industry.

Elevating Safety with Enhanced Overhead Clearance

This project not only underscores Steriline’s commitment to innovation but also introduces a groundbreaking feature: an additional 150mm of overhead clearance, setting a new benchmark in starting gate design. This new feature offers horses additional space, helping to minimise stress-related behaviours and allowing for a calmer loading process, a smoother start and reduced risk of injury to both horses and jockeys. Due to the increased height, new division panel clamps are now incorporated to provide added stability and strength to the Starting Gate.

Along with the increased height, our Platinum Gates have many safety features including spring lock wide opening back gates (the widest in the World, achieving 135°), a funnel effect design, safety steps and fully padded back gates. These safety features work together to reduce starting stall injuries and ensure a consistent, quieter, safer and reliable start every time.
