The current restrictions on sport around the globe have created an increase in racing engagement. While the physical spectators at the tracks are gone there has been a spiked increase in viewership via television and digital platforms, attracting the attention of new or low engagement audiences who may normally occupy their attention on other sports.

Pakenham Racing Club in south-east Victoria, Australia, was asked by their barrier attendants (handlers) to improve the safety and ergonomics on their current starting gate. Budget constraints did not allow for a new gate, so it was a case of examining the identified issues and developing a solution.

Steriline Racing’s starting gates are known for the longevity, reliability and their resilience to all kinds of conditions in horse racing. However, all products with moving parts should still be examined to ensure proper functionality.
