Racecourse Manager wins Steriline ARMA Scholarship

Brisbane Racing Club Assistant Manager, Sean Bridges will be jetting off to Hong Kong later this year after earning the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the best in the horse racing industry.

Mr. John Fargher, Managing Director Steriline Racing announced at the Australian Racecourse Managers Association conference, held at Morphettville Racecourse, the winner of the Steriline Racing ARMA Scholarship as Sean Bridges from the Brisbane Racing Club.

Mr. Fargher in congratulating Sean Bridges said, “The scholarship is worth more than $10,000 and is jointly supported by the ARMA, Steriline Racing and the Hong Kong Jockey Club.  Sean won the scholarship based on his leadership, management ability, initiative and a strong passion for the racing industry”

Sean Bridges said on accepting his award, “I am thrilled to receive the Steriline ARMA scholarship.  The visit to Hong Kong Jockey Club will allow me to gain working knowledge from one of the most prestigious racecourses in the world. This will assist my role in implementing the multi million dollar master plan for Eagle Farm and Doomben racecourses”

When congratulating Sean, Mr. Lindsay Murphy, Chairman of the Australian Racecourse Managers Association thanked Steriline Racing and the Hong Kong Jockey Club for enabling the Scholarship to be offered to aspiring young racecourse managers.

Sean Bridges is the Assistant Racecourse Manager at the Brisbane Racing Club and has shown innovation in his modelling and study into ‘lane bias’ at the Eagle Farm track.

The Scholarship is for the study of all aspects of racecourse management operations at the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s for a period of two weeks in November, 2009.
