The Victorian Racing Club approached Steriline Racing some years ago to investigate moveable rail sections which could cross the main track.
This rail is important for starts which forms the inside rail in all these races including the Melbourne Cup. The club have historically used wooden hurdles, the movement of which each required two people. This equating to a total of about 30 people on Melbourne Cup day.
In addition, the VRC had occupational health and safety concerns about the weight of the wooden hurdles.
Steriline Racing designed and developed the 12 metre sections of moveable rail – which can now be moved very quickly with minimal staff . This delivers significantly enhanced healthy and safety benefits.
