As part of the major $A7 million upgrade of the Flemington Racetrack in 2007 a tunnel was constructed from the inside of the “Birdcage” saddling area to the parade ring in front of the Grand Stand.
Specialised fencing was therefore required to protect the horses and viewing public from the tunnel walls and to keep the horses and people separated and safe.
Steriline Racing was asked to investigate a fencing concept that provided a solid mesh fence with a 700mm horizontal offset.
This was a challenging project because of the stringent safety requirements and the very short time frame for completion.
The project was successfully completed, on time, for the 2007 Melbourne Cup and attracted considerable praise from many quarters. |
