An HK$3 billion investment has been made by the Hong Kong Jockey Club to create a world-class equine training facility in Conghua, Guangzhou, China.

It is currently under construction and due to be completed in August 2018.

The Conghua Training Centre site covers 150 hectares, more than twice the size of Sha Tin Racecourse, and will have four tracks:
  • 2000 metre turf course
  • 1800 metre all-weather track
  • 1600 metre all-weather track
  • 1100 metre uphill turf gallop

Steriline Racing has completed the installation of 1780 metres of covered running rail at the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Conghua Training Centre site in China.

The Steriline covered safety rail has been designed to withstand more than double the likely force of a horse striking the rail during normal racing. This system has been in constant use on the dirt track and has been well and truly tested in that working environment at Sha Tin for more than eight years.

Mr John Ridley, Director of Racing, Hong Kong Jockey Club (Excerpt from Horses for Courses Magazine)

To accommodate the Conghua Training Centre 11,000,000m3 of earth were moved, and 90,000m2 of turf will be laid on the main turf track.
